Heidi grew up on Holly Hill Farm in Benton, LA with a family of Equestrians and equine professionals. Her mother, Tracy Hewlett, is an avid equestrian who runs a boarding operation as well as hosted recognized horse trials for 25 years. Her father, Dr. Robert Hewlett, is an equine veterinarian and her husband, Kevin Crowell, is an equine sport horse farrier.
Heidi grew up in Pony Club and competed in numerous rallies and Pony Club Championships. She has competed through the Advanced level in eventing. She competed on the 3* gold medal winning Young Rider team with Will Faudree, Clark Montgomery and Amy Smith. Heidi currently enjoys producing young horses up through the levels with numerous accolades throughout the years.
She spent her summers in Middleburg, VA as a working student for O’Connor Equestrian and now spends winters training in Ocala, FL with her life long mentors Karen and David O’Connor who have taught her a very systematic approach to riding and coaching that helps ensure overall confidence and safety in the sport of eventing. She enjoys learning and building her knowledge so that she can apply and teach the skills she’s constantly learning to her students. Heidi takes a positive approach to coaching and has had students successfully competing from Beginner Novice to Intermediate/3* and Young rider Championships.
Heidi travels locally to shows as well as the east coast and spends time training and competing in Ocala, Fl as well. In addition to Eventing, Heidi enjoys improving her skills by competing at Dressage and Jumper shows.
She also travels regularly over seas horse shopping and has contacts throughout England, Ireland and Europe.
